FIDELIS DUKAR
A prolific film maker and media executive, Fidelis Duker is a workaholic and one of the major stakeholders in the Nigerian motion picture industry. He’s the CEO of Fad FM in Calabar, Cross River state, where he hails from. But he was born and brought up in Lagos.
Duker began his journey in Nollywood dating back to 1988, when he was writing dramas for NTA. He became popular as a result of his creativity and uniqueness in film production.
In 2003, Duker birthed the idea of the Abuja International Film Festival,AIFF, which is known to be one of Africa’s biggest and longest-running film festivals held yearly in Abuja , the Federal Capital Territory, for which he sits on the board as the Founder with his wife, as the festival Director.
Duker is widely travelled, having represented Nigeria at several film festivals across the globe.
In 2016, Duker won a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award”, at the Best of Nollywood. He is currently the Regional Secretary General of the Federation of Pan African Filmmakers (FEPACI). He was a one time President of Directors Guild of Nigeria with outstanding performance as well as President of African Festival Network. Some of the films produced by Fidelis Duker included: Blood of Brothers, King of Money, Nemesis, Scandals and Destined To Die, Girls Next Door, Senseless, Pure Love, Doctor Death, Not my Will, Hot Passion to mention but a few.
In 2012, Fidelis Duker emerged the President of the continental body for festivals in Africa called Africa Festival Network (AFRIFESTNET).
Early this year, he was named one of the members of jury for the Pan African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou, FESPACO. Following this recognition, the multi-talented broadcaster has convincingly cemented his place in the history of cinema culture in Africa and deserve to serve as one of the advisors of LIFACC . His rich experience and commitment towards the promotion of African cinema, will definitely be at play as the conventions kicks off in coming months.
